Growing up as a young girl raised on Disney movies and completely sheltered within the confines of a religious upbringing, I had very limited exposure to the world of cinema beyond the enchanting fairy tales and feel-good stories. However, when I reached the age of 16, a curious desire arose within me to explore a different kind of film—one that carried a sense of intensity and realism. This blog entry delves into my experience of watching my first violent movie and how it broadened my cinematic horizons and challenged my preconceived notions.

Like many children, I was initially introduced to the magical realm of Disney. Animated princesses, talking animals, and happily-ever-afters filled my imagination and shaped my understanding of storytelling. My parents, holding strong religious beliefs, sought to shield me from the harsh realities of the world, including violence depicted in movies. While their intentions were rooted in love and protection, it inadvertently limited my exposure to a wider range of cinematic experiences.

As I approached my teenage years and developed a sense of individuality, my curiosity about the broader world began to expand. Friends and classmates would often discuss the latest movies they had seen, many of which included action-packed scenes and gripping narratives. The desire to explore films beyond the confines of my sheltered upbringing grew stronger, as I longed to understand the depth and complexity portrayed in these movies.

At the age of 16, my boyfriend introduced me to a movie that deviated from my usual family-friendly fare. The movie I ended up watching was a thoughtfully selected action-thriller that balanced suspense and storytelling. As the scenes unfolded before my eyes, I experienced an array of emotions—tension, excitement, and even a hint of fear. It was a completely new cinematic experience for me, vastly different from the fantasy-filled tales of my childhood. While the violence depicted on screen was challenging at times, it also forced me to confront the realities of the world, outside the confines of my sheltered bubble.

Watching that first violent movie at the age of 16 marked a significant turning point in my cinematic journey. It opened my eyes to a wider range of storytelling and the powerful impact movies can have on our emotions and perspectives. I realized that cinema is a vast and diverse landscape that encompasses a multitude of genres, each offering a unique lens to understand and explore the human experience.

Stepping out of my comfort zone and watching my first violent movie at the age of 16 broadened my horizons and ignited a newfound appreciation for the diverse world of cinema. It taught me that movies have the power to challenge our perceptions, evoke emotions, and expand our understanding of the world. While my upbringing may have kept me sheltered for a time, it also laid the groundwork for a cinematic awakening, allowing me to embrace the power and beauty in film beyond the enchantment of Disney. From Disney To Die Hard, it was definitely an awakening.

Bruce Willis, a household name in the world of Hollywood, has built a remarkable career spanning several decades. With a diverse filmography and a reputation for portraying strong, action-driven characters, Willis has firmly established himself as one of the most talented actors of his generation. In this article, we will delve into his filmography and take a closer look at one of his most iconic roles in the action thriller, Die Hard.

Willis's performance as John McClane showcased his ability to embody both vulnerability and resilience. He brought a human touch to the character, making the audience root for him as he battled against a group of highly skilled terrorists. "Die Hard with a Vengeance" is the third installment in the iconic "Die Hard" film series, and it delivers an explosive and adrenaline-fueled experience. Packed with intense action, clever plot twists, and memorable performances, this film revitalized the franchise with a fresh storyline, making it a must-watch for fans of the series and action movie enthusiasts alike. With very little knowledge of violence and the series, I asked my boyfriend a ton of questions.

One of the strengths of Die Hard With a Vengeance lies in the incredible chemistry between Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson. Their characters' clashing personalities, wit, and begrudging camaraderie provide not only comic relief but also an intriguing dynamic. Willis once again shines as the iconic John McClane, showcasing his natural ability to balance vulnerability with unyielding determination. Jackson's performance adds a layer of depth and brings a refreshing perspective to the film, enhancing the overall viewing experience.
