Back in 1997-98, I traveled to the Kansas City for my college football team's tournament. I had nothing to film because we weren't allowed to film inside the building. Although my high school coaches would let me toss a ball to my teammates, college believed it was silly for a woman to throw a football so therefore I took a nap inside the workout facility.
Today, I am looking deep inside myself and I am taking control of my life. In the last few months, I have spent many months busting my ass. This Sunday, I have made arrangements to go on a trip to see a friend and spend the afternoon yelling for my team. I remember when my Ex refused for me to watch football. The other day I told him that he got rid of my horses to punish me for going to comic con. He admitted that he didn't want me going. His idea of a perfect wife was a woman who only cooked and cleaned for him. He did not want to share me with the world. I became completely isolated. I remember a lot of the things I loved, he would mock until I quit them or hated them. I even started to hate rom-coms. They even triggered me, made me paralyzed and nauseated. That is a very dangerous thing for a woman to lose the idea that love exists for everyone but her. Believing that I only deserved abuse, disrespect and dishonor, I had to be re-programed. A man had to be patient with me a teach me that I was worthy.
Slowly, I am taking back my power. I am doing what I want to do when I want to do it. If you don't like me. Then, see yah. I'm outta here. I am stepping up and my goal is nothing better than scoring a touchdown in the game called life.
